EA-HWA Industrial Supports Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure in Rural Communities
Partnering with Corporate Allies to Protect Nan'ao Elementary School
As climate-related disasters continue to intensify, rural communities face increasing risks—from prolonged power outages to disrupted transportation and delayed emergency response. To strengthen disaster preparedness and community resilience, EA-HWA Industrial participated this year in a philanthropic microgrid initiative at Nan'ao Elementary School, launched by the FET Telecom Foundation and supported by the Sustainable Vanguard Alliance and multiple supply chain partners. Together, we are taking meaningful action to safeguard remote communities.
The newly installed disaster-resilient microgrid at Nan'ao Elementary School in Yilan County integrates an independent energy storage system and diesel generation. When the main grid is disrupted, the system automatically switches to backup power, providing up to 72 hours of electricity for lighting, ventilation, and essential medical needs.
During Typhoon Kemi, the Nan'ao region suffered an outage lasting more than 48 hours, affecting community safety and the school’s emergency response capabilities. With this enhanced microgrid system, the school—also serving as a disaster relief and shelter center—can now offer significantly improved protection for students and local residents during emergencies.
